Read Me First
Hello,
Welcome to the first Columbia A&R blog. This is the central point of our A&R community where both our staff from the label and unsigned acts are connected. Have a look at our neighbourhood to see what the new bands are doing, and visit the blogs from within the label.
If you want to see what we're about and who we are, have a look at our blogs. Over time I'm sure you'll find ground breaking insight into the music business and artists, you'll probably also find a load of random blogs on just about anything.
You're likely to find blurry gig pics and mobile phone videos. Who knows though, you may find that the better connected within the labels publish a few little gems of content that you'll want to get your hands on.
We don't want demo CD's anymore, that's what part of this is about. It takes ages for you to do, they get lost and it's a waste of plastic. Register your blog and be part of our on-line community. You will be directly connected to us and everyone else who's in the community. That's the other reason for this, the artist community being closer to the labels they want to be involved with.
So who am I talking about when we say we (at the label)? Well, you already know me and if you don't read my personal blog to find out who I am. It's a literary roller coaster of stuff, insightful comment and links to videos/music that entertains me. We also have:
Mike - Head of Columbia Records
Ollie - A&R
Marc - A&R
Steve - A&R
Mike P - A&R
I will be circling our community listening out for your offerings .Then I can pluck out the best with the hopes of presenting you to our A&R chaps and maybe work with you further to do something with you music.
So it's all about your blogs, what's going to be happening here? I will do whatever features I can think of and put my Columbia preferences on here to see what you're thoughts are.
So, start leaving comments and get talking to each other and the label.

This is a cool concept. If it hooks up even one artist, it will have proven itself. Props for taking the initiative...and why aren't you listening to my music instead of reading this?
John Havlicek (The Blue Collar Band)
Big Cock was meant to be. Lifelong friends Dave Henzerling (a.k.a. David Michael-Philips - King Kobra, Keel, Lizzy Borden) and drummer John Covington, along with the "Bad Motherf**ker" himself, Robert Mason (Lynch Mob, Cry of Love) and fellow partner in crime, Colby, followed their collective destinies to form a kick-ass rock 'n roll band that could only be called Big Cock. Recorded at a secret location in the middle of the southwest desert during the summer of 2005 Big Cock's debut CD "Year of the Cock" was the record rock fans had been waiting for. Now, 2006 heralds the second, highly anticipated sophomore epic - the self-titled album "Big Cock". It is the sum total of 3 decades of road-tested hard rock and solid proof that these guys will never, ever grow up. You can't ignore Big Cock - you know you love it, so come on and join the party...
Loud, crude, rude, arrogant, pompous and aggressive arena rock is not dead...it is alive and well and called Big Cock. If you like your rock hard, Big Cock delivers all the show, swagger, musicianship and fun that rock 'n roll is supposed to be, complete with songs you can sing along to. No emo-screamo or stare-at-your-shoes whining here, just solid rock 'n roll performed by real men. Don't take our word for it, have a piece of Big Cock for yourself and see how good it tastes. Big Cock. Love it! Live it! Worship it!
Our Digital Distribution Technology is better than yours ;)

I'd like to introduce you to my band JETSTREAM LOVERS. We're from Bristol, UK and we're a mix of electropop and indie rock. Two genres that I really love, and don't feel get mixed up as much as they should! I like to think of our music as having the soul and personality of indie, but with the sexy dancefloor vibe and clarity of electro. I've uploaded a few demo tracks to our fancy new blog, please feel free to drop buy and have a listen!
Ross Tregenza, Jetstream Lovers
I am excited to see how well this works!
